HUMC AFTER SCHOOL DAYCARE PROGRAM: As most of you are already aware, we will begin an after school day care program beginning on Sept. 2nd.  Monday through Friday from 2:00-6:00 pm, children in kindergarten (PM) through fifth grade will be provided a supervised and nurturing environment with opportunities for snack, supervised homework and Accelerated Reading times, inside and outside play time and more!  Registration has begun.  We are asking for your prayers and for your support.  We hope this program will be an outreach opportunity into the surrounding community to reach children who may or may not have the opportunity to attend church regularly.  We hope to provide children with a safe place to stay while parents are working as well as to offer them an opportunity to learn about their Heavenly Father who loves them.  Please lift up this program as well as those working with the program in your daily prayers.  Please ask God to bless this new ministry at HUMC.  Also, if you know of someone who could benefit from this program, please share this information with them.  There are registration forms available on the piano as well as on the Children’s Table in the Welcome Center.  Please share these forms with friends, neighbors and relatives especially with those living in the Hickory Elementary school zone.  Thank you in advance for your prayers and your support.  To make an appointment, call Donna Mishler @ 469-0632.  Thank You!

New Study Opportunity: A new class, “Simply Christian – Why Christianity Makes Sense” will start on 9/3/08.  See the bulletin insert for more information.  A sign up sheet is located in the Welcome Center.

If you have a child going away to college for the first time or if their address has changed since last year, please contact Carolyn Everton (406-1028) so that the Outreach Committee can include them in their Card Ministry.

Adopt a Hero - HUMC will host a military dinner & adoption of service personnel this Thanks-giving.  We need families willing to open their homes to these heroes. If you are interested, please contact Lynn Sorey at 436-5694.

Ladies...you are invited on a pilgrimage via Beth Moore's STEPPING UP; A Journey through the Psalms of Ascent.  Through 7 weeks of prayer, Bible study, discussion, and video presentation, sojourners will be led to a deeper level of relationship and intimacy with God.  Classes begin @ 6:30 pm on Tuesday, September 30th.  A sign-up sheet is located on the table in the Welcome Center.  Enrollment is limited, so register today!  Come take the next step with God.  For more info., call Stephanie Stahler @ 546-9408.

Prayer Team: Our prayer team reminds you to fill out those “answered prayer cards” and help us fill up our jar to show how God is moving in our congregation.  The blue prayer request cards are to request prayer and can be placed in the box on the organ.  The gray answered prayer cards are for prayers that have been answered and can be placed in the jar on the piano.

Please note that there is a collection box in the foyer for anyone who would like to donate used eyeglasses, hearing aids and large print books.  These items will be used by the Great Bridge Lions Club to help those in the community who need them but cannot afford them.  For more info., call Sandy Carawan (547-5479).
