The Jarman Family would like to thank the congregation for their love and support during
their recent loss. They appreciate the
cards, calls, food, flowers and especially your prayers.
It’s backpack time! The 2008-2009 Backpacks of
Love campaign kicked off at the May mission dinner. Empty backpacks with supply lists for grades K-5 are ready for you
to pick up, shop and return filled with supplies and your love. The supply list has a checklist so you can
mark off each item as you buy it. Please
return the supply list in the filled backpack and note if there is a missing
item. If you would like your
contribution to be included in your annual tithing report, please attach your
receipts and put your name at the bottom of the supply list. There is a bi-lingual card available in the
backpack for your signature. Please
return filled backpacks by July 20th.
Graduates: If you know of someone in the church who
is graduating this year, please call or email the church office and give us
their complete name and school/college
they are graduating from. Please be
sure to give us the correct spelling
of their name. All graduates will be
recognized in June. Please check the list
on the bulletin board. If your graduate
is not listed or listed incorrectly, please make additions or corrections. Thank you.
Thanks to everyone who contributed last week to the Eastern Shore Ministries. Through your donations and contributions over 700 pounds of rice
and beans was donated to help the needy on the Eastern Shore. Thank You!

DISCIPLE BIBLE STUDY: We read all
kinds of instruction books during our life, but have you every read God’s
instruction book for life. In Sept., we will start a 34 week survey of
the Bible. It will require at least 30 minutes of reading daily and a 2
hour group discussion, lead by Stan Best (546-1818) on Wed. nights. If
interested, please sign-up in the foyer. If you have any questions,
please call Stan Best or Pastor Tom. We will limit the class to 15
members, so sign-up early.
Prayer Team: Our prayer team reminds you to fill out
those “answered prayer cards” and help us fill up our jar to show how God is
moving in our congregation. The blue
prayer request cards are to request prayer and can be placed in the box on the
piano. The gray answered prayer cards
are for prayers that have been answered and can be placed in the jar on the
piano.
The Nurture
Committee is beginning a card ministry to remember our military personnel, our
college students away at school and also our nursing home residents. If you know of someone who could benefit
from this ministry, please turn in their name and address to the church office
or call Carolyn Everton (406-1028).

has begun and spaces are limited. For
more information, including employment opportunities, go to the Children's
Ministry Table in the Welcome Center.
Adopt a Hero
- HUMC will host a military dinner & adoption of service personnel this
Thanks-giving. We need families willing
to open their homes to these heroes. If you are interested, please contact

Men’s Bible Study: Wednesday Evenings – 7:00 p.m.
Heart Haven: Need
men volunteers to conduct weekly (Saturdays) maintenance at the Heart Havens
"MacLeigh House" during the month of May. Typical maintenance
includes cutting the grass, trimming/edging, etc. If you can
volunteer for one of the days, please see/call Don Brewer (641-9261) or
Glen Lester (482-9275) to be put on the schedule.
