After the 8:30 service and just before Sunday School there is a social time with light refreshments in the Welcome Center.  You are invited to meet and greet.

Graduates: If you know of someone in the church who is graduating this year, please call/email the church office and give us their complete name and school/college they are graduating from.  Please be sure to give us the correct spelling of their name.  All graduates will be recognized on June 13th.  Please check the list on the bulletin board in the Welcome Center to make sure your graduate is listed.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH VOLUNTEERS: We are currently in need of individuals willing to help out with our children's church ministry during the regular worship time on Sundays.  A short lesson/ art activity is provided for the volunteer to use with a small group of children for 30 minutes after the children's sermon.  Please prayerfully consider giving ½ hour of your time in a 3 month period to help with the ministry of our children at Hickory Church.  Contact Donna Mishler @ 421-7963.

BLUE BUCKET OF CHILDREN'S BOOKS: The Generation Why Not Sunday School Class is collecting Children's Books from toddler age all the way to high school age.  These books will be donated to needy families in the community through the local schools, food pantries and women's shelters.  Here is a staggering statistic: 61% of low-income families have no books at all in their homes for their children.  Please put all your new and gently used books in the Blue Bucket provided in the Welcome Center"Once you learn to read, you will be forever free." — Frederick Douglass

Praise Songs                       THIS IS THE DAY

This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made, that the Lord hath made.  We will rejoice, we will rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it.  This is the day that the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.  This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made.

SEEK YE FIRST

Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.  And, all these things shall be added unto you.  Allelu, Alleluia!

Ask and it shall be given unto you.  Seek and ye shall find.  Knock and the door shall be opened unto you.  Allelu, Alleluia!

Eternal Father, Strong to Save

1. Eternal Father, strong to save, whose arm has bound the restless wave,
who bid the mighty ocean deep its own appointed limits keep:
O hear us when we cry to thee for those in peril on the sea.

2. O Savior, whose almighty word the wind and waves submissive heard,
who walked upon the foaming deep, and calm amid its rage did sleep:
O hear us when we cry to thee for those in peril on the sea.

3. O Holy Spirit, who did brood upon the chaos wild and rude,
and bid its angry tumult cease, and gave, for fierce confusion, peace:
O hear us when we cry to thee for those in peril on the sea.

4. O Trinity of love and power, all travelers guard in danger's hour;
from rock and tempest, fire and foe, protect them wheresoe'er they go;
thus evermore shall rise to thee glad praise from air and land and sea.
