CHILDREN'S CHURCH VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers still needed!  Please prayerfully consider giving ½ hour of your time in a 3 month period to help with the ministry of our children at Hickory Church.  Contact Donna Mishler @ 421-7963.

HUMC After School Day Care Program: If you know of someone who may benefit from this program, please have them call the church office for more information.  The Day Care profits are being used to pay down the mortgage on our church building.  When you support the day care by referring people to us, you help the church to reduce the amount left on the mortgage.  We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support. 

HUMC After School Day Care Staff Opening: If you are interested in working with the After School Day Care Program, please pick up an application on the Children’s Table in the Welcome Center.  Hours are 2:00-6:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 7 am-6 pm on Teacher Work Days and some holidays.  All applications must be turned in to Donna Mishler by Sept. 8th.  If you have any questions, please call Donna at 421-7963.

 

Hickory Ruritan BBQ – Sunday, Sept. 19th, 12-4 pm.  Tickets - $7.

Food Drive-Sept. 12th: A food drive to benefit the Chesapeake Avenue Food Closet will be held on Sun., Sept. 12th.  Items needed are: canned vegetables, cereal, oatmeal, crackers, peanut butter, soups, jelly, pasta, rice, beans, and canned spaghetti sauce.  Please place your items in the Welcome Center.  Thank you.

 

GOOD NEIGHBOR FESTIVAL YARD SALE ALERT!  It's that time again!  Let us help you get rid of those items in your closets, garages, and sheds.  All gently used, loved a lot items such as clothing, books, toys, games, furniture, appliances, tools, electronic equipment, and more can be brought to the church on September 19, 20, 21, & 22.  No items will be accepted after Sept. 22.  Can't wait until Sept. 19?  Call Donna Mishler (421-7963) to arrange a time to bring donations to our storage site. Looking forward to lots of stuff!!!  All donations are tax deductible. 

 

Big Blue Bucket of Books Update: A Huge Thank You for all the generous gifts of books over the past months.  With your wonderful donations, you have supplied needy families in our community with over 300 children’s books.  Please continue to send books in as we continue this worthwhile ministry.  “The more you read, the more things you will know.  The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss
