At the 11:00 service, we welcome Mickey & Denise Wheeler into the fellowship of Hickory Church.  We also celebrate in the baptism of Courtney Noelle Wheeler.  Please greet them at the conclusion of worship.

 

Christian love and sympathy is extended to Lee Curling and family upon the death of his father.

 

Congratulations to Terry & Susan Bond who are celebrating their 40th Wedding Anniversary today.  Their anniversary was inadvertently left off the Birthday and Anniversary list for August.

 

Administrative Council: The September Administrative Council Meeting will be held on Monday, August 23rd, at 7:00 p.m.  All members of the Administrative Council should plan to be in attendance. 

 

Our annual Backpacks of Love campaign to provide school supplies to the children of the Eastern Shore ends TODAY.  Please return the filled backpack to the table in the Welcome Center.  If you would still like to participate in the program, donation envelopes are available on the piano.  Your time and donations are so gratefully appreciated by the children of the Shore. CHILDREN'S CHURCH VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers still needed!  Please prayerfully consider giving ½ hour of your time in a 3 month period to help with the ministry of our children at Hickory Church.  Contact Donna Mishler @ 421-7963.

 

BLUE BUCKET OF CHILDREN'S BOOKS: The Generation Why Not Class is collecting Children's Books from toddler age all the way to high school age.  These books will be donated to needy families in the community through the local schools, food pantries and women's shelters.  Please put all your new and gently used books in the Blue Bucket provided in the Welcome Center

HUMC After School Day Care Program: Registration has begun for next year!  If you know of someone who may benefit from this program, please have them call the church office for more information.  The Day Care profits are being used to pay down the mortgage on our church building.  When you support the day care by referring people to us, you help the church to reduce the amount left on the mortgage.  We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support.

The UM Women will not meet during August.  Meetings will resume in September.

Men’s Bible Study: Tuesdays at 7 pm at the church.  All men are invited to attend.
