Youth Group

The HUMC Youth Group meets on Sundays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm during the school year. Youth Group follows the Chesapeake Public School System calendar; any breaks, long weekend and/or school closures means the youth will not meet.

Our youth group participates in a variety of activities that support our church, their own spiritual life, our community and beyond.

Community Activities

Youth assist each year by serving means during CAST and NEST weeks. They also help with Flood Buckets, the Angel Tree, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the HUMC Good Neighbor Festival, Parents Night Out, Vacation Bible School, and other events throughout the year at the church.

Our youth have also gone on mission trips to Pikeville, KY and Raleigh, NC where they helped nonprofit and charitable organizations assist the under served people of those communities.

Youth Activities & Fund Raisers

We also make sure that in addition to community activities and volunteering, that our youth have a lot of fun in the process! Activities include lock-ins, hayrides, bon fires, concerts, district retreats, putt-putt, skating, trunk or treats and more.

The youth raise money for these activities through fundraisers selling donuts, calendars, spaghetti dinners at the church and an annual chili cook off.

Bible Studies

The most important part of youth group is fostering spiritual growth. Youth participate in annual Bible Studies which have included God's Not Dead, Soul Surfer, Facing the Giants, I'm Not Ashamed, Genesis, Matthew, Woodlawn, God's Not Dead 2, To Save a Life, Letters to God and more.
