Missions Overview
Hickory United Methodist Church participates in and organizes several missions. We know that "church" isn't just about what goes on inside the walls of our sanctuary, but how we help others around us - in our community and across the globe.
Community Cupboard
“Take what you need; give what you can.”
The Hickory Community Cupboard is a place where neighbors can find the nourishment they need, and where those who have extra can share with others.
Our cupboard accepts donations of nonperishable food and personal care items, and is available for those who need it 24/7. There’s no need to check in at the church or ask permission. If you need something we have - please take it!
The Community Cupboard is located at the corner of Benefit Road and Battlefield Blvd., conveniently placed at the entrance of our parking lot and adjacent to Hickory Elementary School.
Good neighbor festival
The HUMC annual Good Neighbor Festival is a day of fellowship with food, crafts, a large yard sale, entertainment and more. All proceeds go to help needy families in the Hickory, Great Bridge and Moyock communities we serve.
City of hope, tanzania
Each year a small group of HUMC members travel across the globe to the City of Hope school and orphanage in Tanzania where they assist in building new facilities and working with these special children one-on-one. Our church continues to support their mission and future trips to Tanzania are in the works!
